5 WAYS YOUR DAMAGING YOUR HAIR

THURSDAY TIPS WITH PELLO: FIVE WAYS YOU’RE DAMAGING YOUR HAIR written by Pello Hairdressing November 16, 2017

Tina McBride of Pello Hairdressing Letterkenny shares a haircare how-to for dry damaged hair, separating the truths from the common myths.  Our hair often goes through the hoop in the name of beauty, and more often than not we don’t really  think about the consequences until the signs of damage start creeping up. Between heat styling, chemical processing and countless other assaults on our mane it’s no surprise that damaged hair is the # number one hair care concern. Everyone can relate to one of the following problems and hands up ( truthfully) if you’ve never been there. It all  starts of with  a lack of moisture, from there you start to notice split ends  which in turn leads to  breakage , dullness  and  finally to  weaker, damaged hair.   Now although at this stage you may start to panic just slightly,   don’t despair  ,we can help you go back to your good hair days and talk you through myth or true.

SO HERE GOES: OUR TOP TIPS FROM THE PELLO HAIRDRESSING TEAM ON THE DO’S AND DON’TS TO REPAIR DAMAGED HAIR AND BRING YOUR TRESSES BACK TO ITS FORMER GLORY…..     MYTH# 1: YOU CAN USE ANY SHAMPOO AND CONDITIONER. We would definitely recommend here at Pello Hairdressing that you opt for a shampoo and conditioner that offer hair-fortifying properties that regular shampoos or conditioners don’t contain so ditch what you have now in favour of a hair strengthening shampoo and conditioner that contains Quinoa protein such as Aveda’s damage remedy range. These products are formulated to help prevent breakage and damage by infusing hair with protein. If at all possible keep shampooing to a minimum. Avoid scrubbing too harshly and simply massage your shampoo into your scalp using your fingertips. If you scrub  too vigorously  this will merely matt your hair and cause damage and breakage as matted hair is a lot more difficult to comb. Always apply a rich moisturizing conditioner and rinse out well and always comb  your wet hair with a  wide toothed comb, starting from the bottom up.Always gently towel dry your hair never ever  rub. The gentler the better.   #BEAUTIFUL HAIR STARTS WITH REPAIR.

MYTH# 2: YOU HAVE TO DITCH YOUR HAIR-DRYER. You can still  use your hairdryer once  in a while, but you do need to  prep properly by using a heat protectant product. It’s better practise to use a low heat setting and please ensure that you do not overdry your hair and cause more damage. So get into good practise now and  starts by using the correct pre blow-dry product, always use a nozzle on your hairdryer and keep your dryer a few inches away from your hair and always use a medium to low setting. Avoid using flat irons or other heated appliances to curl your hair while you’re waiting to strengthen it up and never ever use heated appliances on wet hair as the results would be catrastical. We would definitely advise any of our guests here at  Pello Hairdressing with excessively damaged hair to avoid any sort of chemical processing such as straightening or perming. This brings us to our next myth.   MYTH*3:BYE,BYE HAIR DYE.

We certainly wouldn’t  recommend that you would stress you hair any further by doing any sort of double process on your hair until you build it back up again. It’s still ok to colour your roots if you don’t get it done too regularly but it would definitely  be advisable to opt for an  organic hair products as opposed to products with too many chemicals . A knowledgeable stylist will also only colour your roots while you’re waiting to  build up your hair as the top of your hair is healthier than the bottom of your hair. The ends of your hair will always be drier and more damaged

MYTH*4: YOU HAVE TO CHOP IT ALL OFF. If your hair is badly damaged it certainly doesn’t mean that you need to go for a pixie cup. However Autumn/ Winter is the perfect time to go for a complete revamp if you’ve been considering a change up.It’s definitely not a necessity if your hair is damaged. Get your split ends cut up regularly and invest in a good protein building hair mask that you apply once a week and a good split end hair repair.Alternatively use a leave in – treatment for deep condition and repair such as Aveda’s  Damage Remedy Daily Hair Repair.

MYTH*5: IT’S ONLY WHAT’S ON THE OUTSIDE THAT COUNTS AVEDA DAMAGE REMEDY = QUINOA PROTEIN. PROTEIN PROTEIN PROTEIN! Is the order of the day …. Aveda’s Damage remedy line up of products all contain quinoa protein. They consist of a damage remedy restructuring shampoo,a restructuring conditioner , a weekly intensive restructuring treatment masque , a daily hair leave in treatment and the latest addition is a split end hair repair. The will instantly repair damage by 26% % and restore moisture, softness and shine. All products can be purchased in store or on line at www.pello.ie. As well as using good protein and strengthening building hair products  “you are what you eat.” Red meat although essential for protein, also contains zinc and iron which both promote healthy hair growth. For those of us who don’t eat red meat then opt for plenty of Omega 3 which you can find in oily fish and make sure to eat it  at least three times a week. It can also add shine to dry dull hair.So start loading it up on protein inside and out.Until next time….. #pellohairdressingteam TO BOOK YOUR APPOINTMENT AT PELLO HAIRDRESSING LOGON www.pello.ie OR IF YOU SIMPLY HAVE A QUESTION MESSAGE PELLO HAIRDRESSING ON FACEBOOK PAGE  www.facebook.com/pello.hair   VISIT : PELLO AT LETTERKENNY SHOPPING CENTRE OR CALL 074 9113589 Open Monday -Saturday Closed Sunday 10% student discount Mon -Thurs * selected stylists All our AVEDA artists have their colour mixing palettes at the ready All our colours are up to 96% naturally derived No petroleum No parabens No Petrochemicals Not tested on animals     Tags: AVEDAHAIR CAREPELLO 34 Shares Share Tweet PELLO HAIRDRESSING Pello Hairdressing is Donegal’s premier and exclusive Aveda salon, specialising in Aveda hair Colour, Hairdreams hair- extensions, Kebelo, make-up and upstyles.
